Dan shared about his ex-colleague's sudden death on Saturday and we were quite taken aback when we saw news about his death appearing in Lian He Wan Bao last night.
It was about his sudden heart attack that left his PRC wife and his two young kids end up being fatherless before his wife could get her citizenship here.
It's really shocking as he was totally fine one moment, then suddenly, he blacked out and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. It's really a tragedy... :( I read that he was suffering from high cholesterol and something else.
Dan attended his wake earlier and commented about how his boy was running around the wake, oblivious to the fact that his beloved daddy will no longer be around for them in future. So 可怜... :'(
When I think about how we should always take care of our own health by being responsible about it - watch our diet, don't smoke, don't drink (too much), exercise, etc...I get pissed off when I see Dan drinking ice coffee / tea every morning despite the sinsei having warned him about the dire effects. Then I get even more mad when i learned about him smoking behind my back.
I only roll my eyes countless times in response and kept quiet most of the time though I do nag at him every once in a while la. He should be glad I even bother nagging as it shows that I still care. If I didn't mention anything abt these 'bad' habits, I think something is definitely wrong. Now I only hope that this tragedy will serve as a bigger warning to him and not taking our health and life for granted. Life is even more fragile than we can ever imagine.
Ultimately, it's not just his own life that he'd be losing since there's an even greater impact on those whom he'd be leaving behind if something bad were to happen. Of course that goes to anyone of us too, so we should all take good care of ourselves whenever we can.
Don't take any sickness too lightly and see a doctor when you feel that something is really wrong. Drink lots of water and do healthy activities with family members and friends. I just feel that it's really important to stay stress-free as much as we can in this stressful environment.
The best thing would be staying happy and calm in the midst of problems that is inevitable in life. Easier said than done, but definitely possible. Everything starts from our mindset and I hope I can achieve this somehow...
p.s it's also important to get a good insurance coverage for protection!

Our first staycation
We wouldn't be able to enjoy this staycation if it weren't for Sam who gave Dan his points to redeem a room in Festive Hotel at RWS, so we really must thank him for his generosity when he prolly could use his points for himself and family.
All of us took half day and we checked in after 3pm. Kinda excited about it cuz it's our first staycation!
Thank you Uncle Sam!

Work after Seoul
I had to go for a medical check-up at Mt. A today and when I got to the office, I don't feel that blue any more. Anyway I hope that my pap smear result will be fine though Dr. Ho found a cyst of 17mm in my right ovary. He said he's probably due to my cycle last month and asked me to go back for another check-up in July to play safe. Thank God he added there's nothing much to worry about it so I wouldn't feel like it's a big blow.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to my short staycation at RWS this Friday. There's nothing like feeling at home in Singapore and being able to understand everything around me (languages especially) and I feel that I appreciate my country a lot more when I'm back from Seoul.
It's been a good experience though somewhat disappointing because I think I've placed too much expectations on it - especially the shopping part but I'm glad I learned more about its culture and I'm thankful for BFF's company despite the fact that she was unwell before, during and after this trip. It's tough trying to enjoy a trip when you're feeling unwell.
Till then, no more overseas trips for this year le! ^^
p/s I'm not a avid traveller so being able to travel twice is already a personal record for me. Perhaps I will travel again to shop in future, but sad to say, Korea won't be my favourite or first choice for sure. I would definitely consider Taipei again or perhaps BKK this time round.

Day 2 in Seoul
Rise & shine!
Got up at 0645hrs (Seoul Time) and left hotel at 8ish. Seems kinda weird to be waking up so early on a holiday...especially when it's an hour ahead of Sg. Easy to spring up from bed here but can't say the same when I'm back at home.
Gantry for kids
Today's destination is Dongdaemun and we were told that it would be better to alight at Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, so we did. We got lost and wandered off-course and had to cab back to Dongdaemun where we finally got to the place where we intended to go.

Day 1 in Seoul
Short-term Millionaire
A 'must bring'!
Our itinerary
Supposed to meet Sandy at 5.15am, so I got out of bed at 4am though I was already awake at 3am cuz of the lightning and thunder happening almost every second. Thank God the rain has stopped by the time I got out of the house.
